Login methods

Sign in with Google, an email code, a passkey or a password, and move between workspaces and accounts.

Overview

Attia gives you more than one way to sign in, and one account covers every workspace you belong to. This article covers the sign-in page, how to move between workspaces and accounts, and what signing out ends.

How you sign in

Sign in at attia.app/sign-in. The same page creates an account if you do not have one yet.

Google

Choose Google and pick the Google account you want to use. If no Attia account exists for that address yet, the page moves on to creating one.

Email code

Type your email address and Attia sends a one-time code to it. Enter the code on the page to finish signing in.

If no account exists for that address, Attia tells you so after you enter the code, with No account exists for this email. Choose Create account to make one with that address, or Use another email to start again. This check is skipped when you arrive through a workspace invitation, because creating the account is the point of that visit.

Passkey

A passkey signs you in with your device's fingerprint, face or screen lock, or a password manager, and no password. Add one under Settings > Security & access with New passkey. You can add more than one. After that, the sign-in page offers the passkey as a way in.

Password

Your account has no password unless you set one. Use Set password under Settings > Security & access to add one, and Change password to replace it. Once it is set, you can sign in with your email address and that password.

After you sign in, Attia opens the workspace you last had open, or your only workspace if you belong to one. Otherwise it shows Pick a workspace, the list of workspaces your account belongs to. If you followed a link to a page in a workspace, you land on that page instead.

Two-step verification

If your account has an authenticator app turned on, Attia asks for the code from the app after the first sign-in step. A backup code works in its place when you do not have the app to hand. Each backup code works once.

Settings > Security & access shows whether an authenticator app is on for your account, and creates backup codes with Generate. Security & Access covers that page.

One account, several workspaces

You do not need a separate account for each workspace. Every workspace you join or create sits under the account you are signed in with.

To move between them, select the workspace name at the top of the sidebar, or press O then W, and open Switch workspace. It lists every workspace your account belongs to. Create workspace... at the bottom of the list starts a new one.

Add and switch accounts

If you have workspaces under a different email address, you can keep both accounts signed in and move between them without signing in again.

  1. Select the workspace name at the top of the sidebar.
  2. Open Switch workspace and choose Add account....
  3. Sign in with the other email address.

Attia then opens a workspace for the account you added.

With more than one account signed in, the menu changes:

  • Switch workspace lists the workspaces of every signed-in account, each under its email address. Choosing a workspace from another account switches you to that account.
  • Switch account lists the signed-in accounts, so you can move to one directly.
  • Log out of all accounts appears below Log out.

Signing out

Log out in the workspace menu, or Option/Alt Shift Q, signs out the account you are using in this browser. Your other sessions stay signed in. If another account is signed in to this browser, Attia switches to it. If not, you land on the sign-in page.

Log out of all accounts signs out every account in this browser at once. Use it when you are done on a shared computer.

Signing out here does not end your sessions on other devices. To end those, open Settings > Security & access and use Revoke on one session or Revoke all for every session except the one you are using.
