Delete and archive applications
Delete an application and restore it within 30 days, and see how Attia archives finished applications with their job.
Overview
Deleting an application removes it from your pipeline. Archiving takes an old application out of the way but keeps it.
Attia archives applications on its own, together with their job, once the work on that job is finished. Deleting is something you do by hand, one application at a time. For 30 days a deleted application can be restored. After that it is gone for good.

Delete an application
Open the application, select More actions (the ⋯ button in the header), and choose Delete application. Attia asks Delete this application? before anything happens. Press Delete to confirm.
Deleting removes this one application and nothing else. The candidate stays in your workspace, and their applications to other jobs are untouched. The application stops counting toward your plan the same day.
Anyone who can edit the team's work can delete one of its applications: the workspace owner, workspace admins, and members of the application's team. A guest can delete only on a team they have been explicitly added to. You can delete an application whatever its status, open or closed, and even while the workspace is over its plan limit.
The application page is the only place to delete an application. There is no keyboard shortcut, row menu or bulk delete for it.
Deleting a candidate also deletes every application they have. Those applications go to Recently deleted with the candidate.
Undo or restore a deletion
Right after you delete, a toast offers Undo for about 4 seconds. Pressing Cmd/Ctrl Z does the same for 10 seconds after the delete, unless you are typing in a text field.
After that, restore it from Settings → Recently deleted. The page lists deleted jobs, applications and candidates with how long each one has left in its Restore window. Select Restore on the row. You only see the records you would be allowed to restore.
A team's own deletions are also on its Archive page, under the Recently deleted tab. Press G then X on any of the team's pages to open it.
Two things can block a restore:
- The job was deleted too. Restore the job first, then the application.
- The candidate has applied to the same job again. Attia will not restore an application next to a newer one from the same candidate.
After 30 days a nightly cleanup removes the application permanently, along with the files attached to it. It cannot be restored after that.
Archiving is automatic
There is no Archive button on an application. A team archives a job and its applications together once the job is closed and every application on it is finished. Finished in this sense means the application sits in a Completed, Canceled or Duplicate status, or the candidate withdrew. Everything also has to have been inactive for the period set on the team's Workflows & automations page. The default is six months.
That check runs once a night, so a change to the period applies within a day. Set the period under Auto-archive closed items after, from 1 to 12 months. It cannot be turned off.
If an application you expected to be archived is still there, check these:
- The job is not closed yet. Applications on a job that is still open are never archived.
- Another application on the same job is still open. One open application keeps the whole job and all its applications unarchived.
- Something on the job or one of its applications changed recently, which restarts the clock.
An archived application stops counting against your plan. Restore it and it counts again.
Find and restore an archived application
Press G then X on any of a team's pages to open the team's Archive, and select the Applications tab. Select a row and press Restore, or press #.
An archived application still opens at its own URL. The page shows This record is archived. Restore it to make changes., with a Restore button for anyone who can edit the team's work.
Attia refuses the restore when the candidate already has a newer application to the same job. It also refuses while the workspace is over its plan limit, because a restored application counts again.
Close stale applications automatically
A team can close applications that have gone quiet. Open the team's Workflows & automations settings and turn on Auto-close stale applications. Then pick:
- Close after being stale for: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. The default is 6 months.
- When closing stale applications, set status to: one of the team's Canceled statuses. Duplicate is not offered.
Every night, Attia moves each open, unarchived application on the team that has had no activity for that long to the chosen status. An application that is already closed or completed is left alone.
Auto-close only closes. Archiving is the separate step above, which happens once the whole job is finished.
The workspace owner, workspace admins and team leads can change these settings.
