Attia for growth
How admins and hiring leads at a company that is growing its headcount set up teams, plan roles and report progress.
Overview
This guide is for admins and hiring leads at companies that are growing their headcount, where several functions hire at the same time and the plan changes every quarter. It covers how to set up the workspace and which features to use.
Each section links to the article with the detail. How to use Attia lists the other guides.
Set up your workspace
Set up teams
Most growing companies make one team per function, such as Engineering, Design and Marketing. Use sub-teams when a function splits into groups that hire on their own. Sub-teams need the Business or Enterprise plan.
By default only workspace admins can create a team. The Team creation setting on Settings → Security can open it to All members. Guests cannot create a team under either value.
Workspace admins can always send invitations, by email or as an invite link. Members can send them by email when New user invitations on Settings → Security is set to All members. A member invites with the Member role, into teams they may add people to, and invites a guest only into a team they own. Only an admin invites an admin. See Invite members. Once people have joined, send them Joining your team.
Configure team workflows
Each team needs room to run its own process, and the company still needs to compare teams. Set these per team:
- Application statuses, the steps an application moves through. A new team starts with Sourced, New Application, Screening, Interview, Offer, Hired, Rejected, Withdrawn and Duplicate.
- Team job templates, for the roles that team hires for again and again.
- Team application labels.
- The application review scale. A new team starts on Not in use.
Job statuses are one set for the whole workspace, so every team reports a job's progress in the same terms.
Plan
Jobs
Decide in your planning round which roles to open, and create one job per role. A job carries a status, a priority, a start date and a target date, so everyone can see which roles come first this quarter. Working with jobs explains who can create a job.
The job page keeps the description candidates read and the job's properties in one place. Documents hold the writing around the role, such as a brief or an interview guide.
One lead per job
A job can have one lead. Pick the person who writes the brief and keeps the role moving.
Hire
Applications
An application is one candidate's submission to one job. Applications arrive through your career site, and Create applications explains who can add one by hand.
Labels exist at two levels. A workspace label works in every team, and a team label belongs to one team. See Application labels.
Deadlines
An SLA puts a deadline on an application. On Business and Enterprise, rules can set one automatically.
Report
Custom views
A custom view saves a set of filters and display settings under a name. Keep it personal, or share it with the workspace or a team. A saved jobs view can also go in your favorites.
Insights
Insights draws a chart of the records in a list. It is available on Business and Enterprise.
Job updates
A job update is a short progress report on a job. It carries a health, On track, At risk or Off track, and your text. Updates live on the job's Activity tab.
