Create applications
Put a candidate on a job by hand, from the job or from the candidate, and see what the new application starts with.
Overview
An application is one candidate's submission to one job. It belongs to that job, and through the job to the team that owns it.
Most applications arrive on their own when a candidate applies through your career site. You can also add one yourself: a person you sourced, a referral that came in by email, or someone a colleague met at an event.

Add an application
There are two ways in. Both open the same dialog and make the same application.
From a job
Open the job, go to its Applications tab and select Add application. Tick the candidates you want to put on the job, then select Add. With more than one ticked, the button reads Add 3, for example.
From a candidate
Open the candidate's page and select Add to job in their list of applications. Tick the jobs you want to put them on, then select Add.
Only a workspace owner or admin who is not a guest sees Add to job. Everyone else adds from the job.
Picking from the list
- Type in the search box to narrow the list.
- A candidate who already has an application on the job shows Already added and cannot be ticked. A candidate who withdrew can be added again, and that makes a new application.
- Add to job lists jobs that are Draft, Live or Paused. A closed or archived job cannot take a new application.
- You can add up to 200 at once. At the limit, the dialog says You can add 200 at a time.
- The list holds the 500 most recently created candidates, or the 500 most recently updated jobs. When there are more, the dialog says Showing the most recent. Search narrows this list only. Search does not reach past those 500. If the job you want is older than that, open the job and use Add application there. If the candidate is older, a workspace owner or admin can add them from the candidate's page with Add to job.
When the applications land, Attia confirms with Application added, or 3 applications added for a batch. If every one you picked was already there, it says Already added.
What a new application starts with
- Status is the team's default status, the one set with Make default on the team's statuses page in settings. A team that inherits its statuses from a parent team uses the parent's default.
- Assignee is you. If you turned off self-assignment before Attia removed that setting, the application starts with no assignee and you pick one by hand.
- Loops that run on new applications pick it up, the same as an application from the career site.
You can change any of them afterwards on the application page.
Who can add applications
You can add an application to a job when you are one of these:
- a workspace owner or admin who is not a guest
- an active member of the team that owns the job
A guest can add applications only on a team they have been added to. Anyone else does not see Add application on the job.
Add to job on a candidate's page is for workspace admins. It lists every job you can see, and you can add the candidate to each of them.
When the candidate is not in Attia yet
The dialog picks from candidates already in the workspace. If the person is new, a workspace owner or admin creates them first with Create candidate: press N then C, or choose Create new candidate... in the command menu. Then add them to the job. If you are not an admin, ask one to create the candidate.
